A multitude of birthdays and discovering interests I never knew I'd have!

First of all I have to wish my lovely Dad a very Happy 60th Birthday today, a (slightly) belated Happy 6th Birthday to Lewis and Happy Birthday to my mother-in-law, Shona!

Well it's the start of week 6 of college today. I, however, am at home today as Miss Shortie is ill again - this time some sort of throaty-coughy bug. So I thought it was really about time to update the blog (I hope I don't end up only ever updating here when one of my children is ill).

I thought I'd talk about the classes I'm most enjoying. Comm. 4 is definitely a fave - it's basically English which was the one class I was actually good at at school. But the most surprising ones for me are my History and Politics classes - I honestly thought I'd tolerate them to get through the course but I'm actually becoming very interested in them - so much so that I was considering getting a book about WWI, even though (get this) it's not something we get tested on. I may have to lie down in a darkened room.

I have to admit I'm struggling to 'get' Sociology right now. There's so much to remember! I've done quite a bit of revising on it over the past week so hopefully it's going to start sinking in soon.

The Inevitable...

Well it's happened. I'd hoped I would have a couple of months before it came to this but no. In my third week of college, I'm having to take the day off because I have an ill child. I knew, as a mum of three, that there would undoubtedly come a time where someone was ill and I'd have to stay home, I just didn't think it would happen so  quickly! And now I'm crapping myself about how much I'll be missing today - I have texted a classmate to let me know what homework we have and I know I'll be able to get notes from someone, but it's not the same as actually being there.

Elise's 'not well' face.

Anyway, she seems to be on the mend today so fingers crossed we're back to normal tomorrow and I'm only missing one day - I know it could be worse - she's been not well since Monday but Stewart was off work on Monday so that was fine, and I'm off on a Tuesday anyway. If it had started today I'd have had to take the rest of the week off. Send us some luck please!
